That experience taught me that a business owner can be well supported and still stand alone before certain decisions. Not because the team lacks ability, but because everyone sees the business from the perspective of their function, responsibilities and proximity to the answer.

I created Ursa Major to provide the perspective I would have wanted: a direct, ongoing and independent relationship with someone who understands the weight of the decision, asks difficult questions and does not try to take the owner’s place.

I combine experience in the owner’s seat with formal management training (eMBA), the Chartered Administrator designation (Adm.A.) and the cross-functional perspective gained by serving on several boards of directors. I approach each situation with a rigorous analytical method: I separate facts from assumptions, make the reasoning traceable and provide a clear recommendation. I have nothing to sell behind the recommendation and nothing to protect in the answer.
